Privacy
Updated 2026-09-27. This is the privacy policy for the Threshold app on iPhone and Android.
Who we are
Threshold is made by Scrolling Is Evil LLC. Questions go to support@scrollingisevil.com.
What the app keeps on your phone
For each dog you add:
- The dog's name, what sets it off on walks (other dogs, people, bikes, and so on), and your first guess at a distance where it can still eat, if you give one
- Which practices you logged, when, the check you picked for each one (stayed easy, left early, or reacted), and the distance in steps, if you enter one
- Notes you type
- Your answers to the safety questions (when you add the dog, at each week's check-in, or when you pause practice yourself), when a pause started and ended, and the name you typed for who saw the dog before you resumed
- Whether a vet has examined the dog in the past year, as you answered it
- Days you marked as a hard day, and at each check-in what you picked next (move on, repeat, or go back)
For the app itself: which dog Today shows, and an install ID and a six-character invite code that the app makes the first time it opens. The install ID stays on the phone.
All of this sits in one file in the app's own storage. There is no account, no sign-in, and no Threshold server that receives it. Test builds before build 9 had an optional email field in More; it never left the phone, and build 9 deletes it. If your phone backs up apps to iCloud or Google, that backup can include this file. Apple or Google holds that backup under their own terms, and we cannot read it.
What leaves your phone
Each time the app opens, it contacts RevenueCat to check whether the Threshold Plan is active and to read its price. This happens for everyone, including people who have not bought anything; see Purchases below for what those requests carry. Apart from that, nothing leaves unless you do one of these things:
- Share. Invite someone, Share this week's count, and Export notes open your phone's share sheet. The text goes only to the app or person you pick. An invite has a short message and a link to scrollingisevil.com with your invite code, and never your notes. An export includes each dog's name and its notes, checks, distances, and check-in answers.
- Buy or restore the Threshold Plan. The app sends RevenueCat the store's record of the purchase. See Purchases below.
- Redeem a code (Android only). More → Redeem a code sends the code you type and RevenueCat's anonymous ID (see Purchases) to our own review-access server, which runs on Cloudflare. The server checks the code and asks RevenueCat to open weeks 2 to 8 for that ID for 30 days. These codes are for Google Play's app reviewers.
- Tap a link. Privacy, Terms, and Support open your browser. The support email opens your mail app.
The app has no analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDK, and it does not read an advertising identifier.
Purchases
Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) takes payment. We never see your card or your store account details.
The app uses RevenueCat to check whether the Threshold Plan is active. Every time the app opens, whether or not you have bought the plan, it asks RevenueCat for your purchase status and the plan's price. These requests, and the store's record of a purchase when you buy or restore, go under an anonymous ID that RevenueCat's code makes on your phone. That ID is not tied to your name, your email, or any account, and the app never sends RevenueCat an ID of its own. Test builds before 26 September 2026 sent the install ID instead; the first launch of a newer build switches that phone to the anonymous ID. RevenueCat also receives the technical details that come with any network request, such as IP address, device model, operating system and app version, and store country. RevenueCat never receives your notes or anything about your dogs. RevenueCat's own policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
This website
Cloudflare hosts scrollingisevil.com. When you open an invite link or this page, Cloudflare handles the request (IP address, browser, page) to serve the page and protect the site. The site does not load analytics scripts. There are no ad trackers on these pages.
What we do not do
We do not sell or share personal data. There are no ads in the app. We do not use your notes or your dogs' details for anything, since they never reach us.
Children
Threshold is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think we have, email us and we will delete what we hold.
Deleting your data
More → Export notes makes a copy first, if you want one. To remove one dog and its plan, open it in More → Dogs and tap Delete. More → Delete all data removes every dog, plan, check, and note from the phone, including any copy the app set aside after finding a damaged save file. Deleting the app does the same. Neither one removes your purchase; Restore purchase brings it back.
To ask us to delete the purchase record RevenueCat holds, email support@scrollingisevil.com with the purchase date and the order number from Apple's or Google's receipt email.
If this policy changes, the new text is posted at this address with a new date.
